Nathaniel Clyne
The subject of an alleged £10m bid from the Reds already this summer, Clyne may have the capabilities to sure up the area down the Liverpool right.
The 24-year-old excelled at Southampton last year in a side that surprised many following their mass exodus last summer.
Clyne contributed both defensively in 16 shut-outs last term as well as going forward where he scored two goals including the equaliser in front of the Kop last August.
His combination of youth and experience suggest he might be the right solution to the Reds’ defensive woes. The speculation that the Saints are on the cusp of a deal for Sporting Lisbon’s Cedric Soares suggests Clyne may be on his way out, with Anfield a possible destination.
Javier Manquillo
Not really a new signing but will be present at Anfield next term as part of his two-year loan deal from Atlético Madrid. Manquillo was unable to nail down a regular starting place last year as Brendan Rodgers favoured a system with three at the back, accompanied by two wing-backs.
He has youth on his side and his potential was visible in the 10 games he started last term, but he is in desperate need of a run in the side.
Come January he would also have the opportunity to compete for the position with Jon Flanagan who has been blighted with injuries of late.
Depending on performances next season, the club would then have an option to buy Manquillo from his parent club, all to play for.
Kieran Trippier
An outside bet to be signed but Trippier will almost certainly make a move away from Burnley this transfer window.
He performed well for the Clarets last term and a reported £3.5m buyout clause in his contract would make him a cheap acquisition.
Whilst many would say he is unproven at Premier League level, especially considering the fate of his club last term, the rumoured interest from the likes of Stoke, Aston Villa, Tottenham and the Reds suggests he has potential to succeed.
Dani Carvajal
After being discarded by Real Madrid and sold to Bayer Leverkusen back in 2012, he was then resigned via a buyback clause placed in the deal after one season.
Since then he has performed well at the Bernebeu club, putting in some good performances in 61 appearances that have yielded two goals to date.
You may be thinking, he’s a regular so why would he leave? But Madrid have the impending arrival of £22.8m signing of Danilo to think about and a new manager in Rafael Benitez could signal his departure.
Clearly the 23-year-old may elect to remain at the La Liga giants but there could be a Mersey offer on its way.
Connor Randall
Not a highly documented academy product like Jerome Sinclair or Jordan Ibe but Randall has gone about his business quietly within the academy setup.
An ex-Under 18’s captain for the Reds, he played with the senior team for the first time in a friendly against Shamrock Rovers last May.
An unlikely option but Rodgers could opt to promote Randall into the first team dressing room on a more permanent basis as he looks to give the 19-year-old an experience of the game at the top.
His attacking ethos and local heritage would certainly see him receive large amounts of support from the Anfield faithful and an opportunity, should he grasp it, could be priceless for his career development.
