Trent Alexander-Arnold has enjoyed a meteoric rise at Liverpool over the past couple of years.
From being a highly-rated academy prospect, the 21-year-old has become one of the best right-backs in world football.
He was gradually brought into the team by Jurgen Klopp, but he hasn’t looked back, becoming the youngest-ever player to appear in back-to-back Champions League finals.
Alexander-Arnold may be excelling at right-back, but it hasn’t always been his preferred role.
The youngster was a formidable midfielder during his academy days, as the following video from Scout Nation proves:
It shows Alexander-Arnold as the midfield powerhouse he once was, as he looked to emulate childhood hero Steven Gerrard.
It will be very interesting to see if Klopp uses the Englishman in midfield years down the line, or whether he now views right-back as a position he has made his own.
Either way, Liverpool have an extraordinary young talent in their ranks – one who, assuming he avoids serious injury, has every chance of captaining the Reds one day.
