Former Liverpool striker Robbie Fowler has revealed that a job on the new Reds manager’s backroom staff would appeal to him.
Brendan Rodgers was sacked by Fenway Sports Group after Liverpool’s 1-1 draw against Everton at Goodison on Sunday, and the futures of assistant manager Sean O’Driscoll and first-team coach Gary McAllister are also in doubt.
The club are reportedly in talks with former Borussia Dortmund manager Jurgen Klopp, and the German could be in charge at Anfield by the end of the week.

Fowler, who scored 184 goals in 370 appearances across two spells with the Reds, admits he would welcome the opportunity to return to the club in a coaching capacity.
“I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t interested,” Fowler said, as quoted in the Liverpool Echo.
“When a new manager comes in I’d love to be on the backroom staff. Liverpool is a massive part of my life and if that was to be the case I’d love that.”
Several former Liverpool players have lauded the potential appointment of Klopp, and Fowler has echoed their sentiments, whilst also singing the praises of Carlo Ancelotti, who has also been linked with the vacant managerial role.
“My opinion is that Jurgen Klopp is a very good manager,” Fowler added.
“I’ve never met him but looking as an outsider I was impressed with what he did in Germany for Dortmund.
“I like what I see and it’s exactly the same with Carlo Ancelotti. I like his manner, I like Jurgen’s manner and the way they get their teams playing great football.
“We deserve that at Liverpool. Both of those managers can supply that.”
Fowler doesn’t believe former manager Rodgers did badly at Liverpool but acknowledges that the Ulsterman just fell short.
He said: “Brendan done okay. He never got us to what we wanted, but he came very close.

“I don’t think he was a failure as such. Football is a result business and if you are not getting the ones you want, not winning leagues or cups, questions will be asked and sadly for him that was the case.
“He was a very good Liverpool manager. I liked him as a man and as a manager. I thought his man-management style was very good.
“But the club have said they want a change. It’s the club’s idea and we all stand by that decision.”
