Gerrard keen on bringing Kane to Rangers in January

Steven Gerrard is keen on bringing Herbie Kane to Rangers in January, according to Football Insider.

The 21-year-old played well for Liverpool on Tuesday night, despite the Reds losing 5-0 away to Aston Villa in the Carabao Cup quarter-finals.

Kane excelled on loan at Doncaster Rovers last season, being named in League One’s Team of the Season.

He has been with Liverpool’s Under-23s in 2019/20, but the club are happy to let him leave during the January transfer window.

A loan move looks most likely, but a permanent exit hasn’t been completely ruled out.

Gerrard sees Kane as someone who could aid Rangers’ Scottish Premiership title bid, joining the likes of Sheyi Ojo and Ryan Kent at the club.

Kane is a very able midfielder with plenty of quality, but realistically, his long-term future lies away from Liverpool.

There are simply too many top players ahead of him in the pecking order and that is unlikely to change.

Kane has the ability to forge an impressive career elsewhere, though.
