Glen Hoddle claims Trent Alexander-Arnold has dipped in form

Since being left out of the England squad by Gareth Southgate last week, Liverpool youngster Trent Alexander-Arnold’s form this season has come under magnified scrunity.

Despite producing frankly outstanding levels in his fledgeling career to date, the 22-year-old perhaps dipped below his usual high standards this season, albeit truncated by injury

Former England player and manager Glen Hoddle has added his thoughts this week on his own podcast, The Glen Hoddle Footy Show

As for Trent Alexander-Arnold. I think he’s a very good player. I have seen a slight change in him this year, he’s a very young man and this might be the very thing he needs.

Hoddle went on to hail some of the ‘wonderful’ contributions Alexander-Arnold has continued to make to Jurgen Klopp‘s side, before claiming that generally, the right-back had ‘taken his foot off the pedal’ somewhat.

Having earned 12-caps to date for England, there remains a possibility the Scouser could still make the squad for the European Championships this summer.

There’s little denying Alexander-Arnold’s levels dropped slightly, particularly in the early weeks of this season.

Last term the attacking right-back contributed a remarkable 13 assists and four goals in 38 Premier League outings as the Reds swept aside all-comers.

By comparison, as Klopp’s men face struggles across the board, Alexander-Arnold has scored just once and assisted teammates on three occasions.
