After 90: Jordan Henderson hands over social media to Anti-bullying foundation

After Liverpool’s loss to Real Madrid on Tuesday night, a few members of the Reds’ squad were subject to racist abuse on social media.

This has been an ongoing issue for some time now with social media becoming a platform for hatred and racism towards footballers.

Abuse such as this is unacceptable and plenty of charities and camapigns have started to tackle to growing issue in our society and sport.

This includes Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson, who yesterday teamed up with anti-cyberbullying foundation Cybersmile to launch a new campaign named ‘People not Profiles’…

It is a fantastic idea from the charity and Henderson, with them using his reach to millions of followers to highlight the issues with social media and the abuse on it.

As Henderson says in the video, deleting social media doesn’t really solve anything, but educating and raising awareness definitely does help the cause.

The Liverpool captain has shown himself to be a great leader on and off the pitch since being handed the captaincy all those years ago and his recent actions show a real desire to help make a change.

Despite being sidelined since the end of February Henderson is still yet to make a comeback, but even when not in the squad, he still manages to make a positive impact in the footballing world.

matchday.
