Liverpool youngster Jordon Ibe is hoping that the sale of Raheem Sterling will boost his Liverpool career.
The 19-year-old is being lauded as the ideal replacement for Sterling after his £49m move to Manchester City.
Ibe is one of the players that has impressed the most during the Reds’ pre-season tour of Australia and Asia.
The England Under-20 international is now hoping to make the most of any chances he gets at the club.
Speaking to the Liverpool Echo, Ibe said: “Football is about chances.
“Raheem is a great player but hopefully now I will get a chance to play and prove to the manager that I can play in the Premier League.”
The youngster arrived on Merseyside in 2012 from Wycombe Wanderers and has spent his three years at Anfield on loan at Birmingham City and Derby County.
During the first team squad’s opening three games of their tour, Ibe has linked up well with new signing Nathaniel Clyne down the right hand side for Liverpool.
“All of the signings that have come in are great players. I’m enjoying playing on the wing with Nathaniel and all of the new players have done well, and they have obviously got a few goals as well,” explained Ibe.
The first team squad have arrived in Kuala Lumpur, as they gear up to face a Malaysia XI for the final game of their tour on Friday.
