Inter join Liverpool in race to land Timo Werner

Inter Milan have reportedly joined Liverpool in the race to sign RB Leipzig forward Timo Werner at the end of the season.

According to the printed edition of Tuttosport, as transcribed by Goal Italy, Inter are interested in signing Werner in the summer as a potential replacement for Lautaro Martinez.

The story also claims that Liverpool are keen on the striker, who has a reported release clause of €60m in his Leipzig contract.

Werner has scored an incredible 27 goals in all competitions for Leipzig this season, which could be why Inter and Liverpool are both looking to snap him up.

If the Reds did sign him, it would be interesting to see how Jurgen Klopp handled the situation with him and Roberto Firmino.

Both are centre-forwards and Liverpool only play with one through the middle in a 4-3-3, which could mean that only one is able to start each game.

This could be an issue if both players want regular game time in the Premier League and, as a result, may cause some problems for Klopp.

Inter, however, could also play their part in the situation. If Werner feels like his game-time will be eaten up by the presence of Firmino and thinks that he will play more at Inter, he could opt for a move to Italy over England.

This means that Klopp needs to make sure that Werner knows – if the club want to sign him – that he will get minutes on the pitch and be a key player so that he does not decide to head to Italy instead.
