It ‘doesn’t get much bigger’ than Liverpool, says rumoured target McCallum

Rumoured Liverpool transfer target Sam McCallum claims it ‘doesn’t get much bigger’ than playing for the Reds.

The 19-year-old has impressed for Coventry City this season, making 16 appearance in League One, scoring twice.

McCallum was linked with a move to Liverpool last month, but nothing has come to fruition yet.

Talking to the media, as reported in the Mirror, the left-back as flattered with the links, but played down talk of a move to Anfield:

It does make me smile.

I did see that and I suppose it doesn’t get much bigger than that but like I said, it’s just in the background and nothing has come of it.

It makes me feel happy but you obviously don’t know what’s true and what’s not.

I think McCallum would be exciting addition by Liverpool, in an area of the pitch where they look light currently.

Andy Robertson is the Reds’ only recognised senior left-back, with James Milner not a long-term deputy in the role, in my opinion.

McCallum is still extremely young, and could be used in Liverpool’s academy to begin with, but he would be an intriguing option to have.

Yasser Larouci is battling hard to be a future first-team squad member and the Coventry star would provide good competition for him.

In truth, however, I think a more established backup to Robertson could also do with arriving in the near future, in case the Scot picks up an injury.
