Virgil van Dijk has no concerns about Liverpool’s current lack of clean-sheets, saying winning matches is all that matters.
The Reds were magnificent at the back last season, but they have looked a little more susceptible this time around.
Jurgen Klopp’s side haven’t enjoyed a shutout since the 1-0 win at Sheffield United on September 28th – a run of 13 games, in all competitions.
In fact, they have only kept three clean-sheets all season, which is a huge surprise.
Van Dijk isn’t bothered by Liverpool’s ability to concede, however, saying results are the most important thing:
It doesn’t really matter but no one wants to concede goals even if you win the game.
But I am not going to go to bed thinking ‘Oh s**t’ we conceded a goal. It is all about the team winning games.
We want to win in the best way possible and obviously that is by not conceding but if we win it with conceding then everyone is still happy.

In fairness, some of the criticism of Liverpool’s defending has been hyperbolic, with the Reds often only conceding one goal in matches.
They don’t look as imperious as they did time last year, however, and it would be nice to see a few clean-sheets recorded.
Hopefully, that starts on Saturday afternoon at Bournemouth, although it could be a tricky assignment for Klopp’s men.
