David Moyes admits that it is ‘very difficult’ to admit Liverpool are the best team around at the moment, heaping praise on the Reds in the process.
Liverpool got the better of Moyes’ West Ham team on Wednesday night, winning 2-0 at the London Stadium.
Speaking after the game, the former Everton and Manchester United boss didn’t hide the fact that it is painful to see the Reds excelling so much:
They are as good as there is around at this moment in time.
It’s very difficult when I’ve been the manager of Everton and Manchester United to say that, but Liverpool are an excellent side.
They have so many strings to their bow and whatever you try to do to stop them, they have other ways to get around you.

What Liverpool are doing this season is extraordinary, amassing 70 points from a possible 72 available to them, so it’s understandable that even Moyes, who admittedly finds it diffuclt to praise Liverpool, feels obliged to speak about how good the Reds currently are.
To put Liverpool’s season into perspective, Jurgen Klopp’s men have already won more matches (23) than Man United’s treble-winning side (22) did in the entire 1998/99 season.
The Reds have a record Premier League points tally in their sights as they need 31 points from thier remaining 14 games to beat Manchester City’s tally of 100 points achieved in 2017/18.
Liverpool could also become the first team since Arsenal’s Invincibles to go a whole Premier League season unbeaten and given that the Gunners’ side of 2003/04 are still talked about almost 16 years later, this current Reds side could be getting a lot more praise, like that given to them by Moyes, for years to come.
