Jadon Sancho admits he would prefer Liverpool transfer

The widely discussed future of Borussia Dortmund and England star Jadon Sancho has seen an interesting development with German sports outlet Kicker reporting that the 20-year-old would prefer to move to Liverpool instead of Manchester United.

Kicker report that United had an £89million offer for Sancho rejected by the Bundesliga club and they also claim that the winger would prefer to move to Anfield over Old Trafford as the reigning Premier League champions are fighting for regular titles and he believes United are still lagging behind.

The eight-times England capped winger wants to do start competing for major honours immediately following any move and he thinks he’d have better chance of doing so at Liverpool.

Sancho has lit up the Bundesliga in recent times, his 17 goals in the 2019/20 season alongside 17 assists make him one of the most deadly players in Europe.

Jurgen Klopp has previously discussed his admiration for Sancho and the way he has advanced his game to the next level in Germany. The Liverpool manager has obvious links back to Dortmund too, and perhaps has that has given him the inside track on the winger.

Having left Manchester City for Germany in 2017 without making a first-team appearance, it seems Sancho is now keen on returning to England.

The stumbling block on as ever regarding any possible transfer could be the transfer fee. Dortmund are reportedly holding out for their £100 million valuation of the winger, despite the fractured financial market following the global pandemic.

In the current marketplace, it seems unlikely Liverpool would be willing to spend such a large sum of money on one marquee signing. Sancho may have to face the prospect of one more season with Der BVB before he can make his desired move, or look for a transfer elsewhere.
