Jordan Henderson has spent his career trying to prove people wrong, with few Premier League players in history more divisive.
Even when he’s the captain of a Champions League-winning Liverpool side, he can’t avoid severe criticism.
Henderson made a key contribution in the Reds’ 2-1 win over Tottenham on Sunday, equalising in the second half with an impressive finish.
Speaking to Premier League Productions, Jermaine Jenas talked up the 29-year-old as a player, pointing out how unsung he is:
I think he’s a really underrated player for Liverpool. I know he’s the captain but a lot of his work goes unnoticed.
He works his socks off and he is a genuine leader within the ranks. You can see that when he doesn’t play, when he comes on the team lift.

There is no denying that Henderson has been in poor form of late, including in the first half against Spurs.
He remains a criminally undervalued player by some, however, offering so much to this Reds side.
Moving forward, it may be that he stops becoming such a regular in the team, but there is no shame in that.
Sunday’s goal will do Henderson the world of good and Liverpool fans will hopefully see him back to his best in the coming weeks.
