Curtis Jones has been included in Liverpool’s 23-man squad for the Club World Cup, the Evening Standard‘s David Lynch has confirmed.
Joel Matip and Fabinho have not been included, though, which is no great surprise.
The 18-year-old has had an impressive season captaining the Reds’ Under-23s, going up a gear.
He also scored the winning penalty for the first team in the Carabao Cup fourth round win against Arsenal in October.
While a team of youngsters will take on Aston Villa in the quarter-finals, due to a ridiculous fixture schedule, Jones will travel to Qatar alongside the many world-class players that Liverpool possess.
Rhian Brewster is also part of the squad, as is goalkeeper Andy Lonergan.

Jones’ call-up to the squad is richly deserved, as he threatens to become more of a fixture in Liverpool’s first team moving forward.
He could easily have stayed behind and played against Villa, but Klopp taking him to Qatar suggests he rates him highly.
The same applies to Brewster, even though the striker is expected to head out on loan in January.
Liverpool will face their Club World Cup semi-final clash on December 18th – the Villa game is the previous day – with the final taking place December 21st.
