Keita stretchered-off in first half of Napoli clash

Liverpool midfielder Naby Keita was forced off with an injury in the first half of the club’s Champions League clash with Napoli.

The Liverpool Echo report that the Guinean has suffered a suspected back injury and is now a doubt for Sunday’s crucial Premier League tie with Manchester City.

Worryingly for the Reds, Keita did not seem to be injured in a particular challenge and went down off the ball.

After receiving treatment from the club’s medical staff on the pitch in Naples, the summer-signing was eventually stretchered off after just 19 minutes and replaced by club captain Jordan Henderson.

Keita made a quick start to the Premier League campaign, starting the Reds’ first three Premier League matches against West Ham United, Crystal Palace and Brighton and Hove Albion.

However, he has since played more of a bit-part role, featuring as a substitute on a number of occasions.

Should the £52.75m not be able to take part against Pep Guardiola’s men, Henderson is likely to take his place in the starting XI.
