Keita’s Liverpool future hangs in the balance ahead of summer exodus

Naby Keita could be part of a summer exodus at Liverpool, with the midfielder’s future uncertain.

That’s according to the Mirror, who claim that as many as six Reds players could head out of the Anfield exit door.

Keita is perhaps the most high-profile potential casualty, with Loris Karius, Nathaniel Clyne, Dejan Lovren, Xherdan Shaqiri and Divock Origi the others.

The report states that the Guinean’s future ‘hangs in the balance’, having struggled to make the grade at Anfield.

I would keep hold of Keita, but give him one more season to prove himself, both in terms of fitness and form.

There is no doubt that the 25-year-old has been underwhelming, especially as he signed with a huge reputation, becoming Liverpool’s most expensive player in history at the time.

He is still a very talented footballer, though – one who has the ability to break the lines with his passing and dribbling, and offer off-the-ball work that often goes unnoticed. Only Jordan Henderson (2.2) and Fabinho (2.1) have averaged more tackles per game in the Premier League this season than Keita (1.8), for example.

Keita, who is among Liverpool’s top earners, must find his top gear and remain fit moving forward, however, or Jurgen Klopp may have a decision to make.
