Klopp hints at no more loan moves in January

Jurgen Klopp has hinted that no other Liverpool players will head out on loan in the January transfer window.

Rhian Brewster has moved to Swansea City until the end of the season, in a bid to earn more playing time.

The 19-year-old hasn’t been the only player linked with a temporary move away from Anfield, however, with Curtis Jones also tipped for a switch to Leeds United and Stoke City.

Speaking to reporters on Friday, Klopp seemed to suggest that Brewster would be the Reds’ only January departure:

At this moment I don’t see anyone who would benefit more from a loan than staying with us.

I believe this is the right decision by Klopp, with Brewster the one youngster particularly in need of minutes at first-team level.

The striker has huge potential, but he has suffered from injuries and will benefit from playing regularly at first-team level.

I hope to see him start regularly for the Swans, which will allow him to find rhythm and confidence, both of which are key for any goalscorer.

We feel as if Jones is already good enough to be part of Klopp’s first-team squad, as he showed with his stunning winner against Everton last weekend.

He already looks physically ready to play alongside senior professionals, and I feel as though he could be a useful substitute in the second half of the season.

The same applies to Neco Williams, who also looks an increasingly able deputy to Trent Alexander-Arnold.

The young Welshman still has plenty of maturing to do, but we feel as though he is a better option than Joe Gomez, who never looks happy in an unfamiliar role.
