Jurgen Klopp has provided an update on Divock Origi’s ankle injury he sustained in Liverpool’s 3-1 win over Newcastle United on Saturday.
The Belgian was replaced by Roberto Firmino against the Magpies, with the striker forced off before the 30-minute mark.
Although the injury doesn’t seem too serious, Origi is set to be on the sidelines for one or two weeks, which could have an impact on Liverpool’s squad depth.
The 24-year-old will only miss a few games, however, and with Liverpool calling Rhian Brewster into the senior squad, they will have cover for Origi.
Speaking to Liverpool FC.com, Klopp said:
We expect him [to be out for] between one and two weeks, but it depends a little bit on when he can deal with the pain.

Although Origi will be a miss for Liverpool, they have enough depth in attack to cope without him, and with the injury only minor, he will be back in no time if his recovery goes to plan.
It will allow other attackers to impress Jurgen Klopp, most notably Xherdan Shaqiri and youngster Brewster, who will most definitely want to fight for first team places.
Overall, Origi won’t be a big miss for Liverpool, but Klopp will definitely welcome him back into the squad when he recovers.
