Klopp slams FA for scheduling issues during winter break

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has slammed The FA for deciding to schedule FA Cup 4th-round replays for the winter break.

The Premier League introduced the first ever winter break in the division this season, which is due to take place in February. However, if you have to replay your FA Cup 4th-round game, you will need to play during the break.

Speaking to ESPN, Klopp said this:

The problem that we have is the Premier League have decided we have a winter break and the FA decided the re-game [replay] if you have to play, if you draw in the fourth round, you play the re-game in that week.

It’s incredible. It’s just in the winter break. Right? That’s when they set the game.

Ok, how is that possible? Nobody speaks about these things. I really don’t understand that.

READ LIVERPOOL VERDICT

Without starting or ending the season earlier or later, it is hard for The FA to schedule a winter break in the Premier League to begin with. However, to schedule the replays for the week Premier League clubs are due to have does seem to defeat the point of it being a break.

If Liverpool do have to replay their fourth-round fixture, should they get that far, it would mean that they do not get the week’s break that the other Premier League teams are set to have. It is all rather baffling and easy to see why Klopp is frustrated with the situation.
