Kolo Toure wants new Anfield deal

Kolo Toure has revealed he would like to extend his stay at Liverpool, reports Goal.com.

The 35-year-old’s contract at Anfield expires this summer, after he joined from Manchester City on a free transfer in 2013.

He has been used largely as a back-up during his time at the club, but recently became a preferred option in defence after a loss of form to Martin Skrtel.

And after starting Wednesday’s Europa League final against Sevilla, Toure wants to secure a deal that will see him remain at Liverpool next season.

He told Sky Sports: “I am enjoying my time at the club; a fantastic club and fantastic supporters. We will see what will happen and you will have to ask that question to the manager.”

“Of course I want to stay, It’s a great club to play in but the manager has his plan and any decision I will respect. He is a top manager and knows what he’s doing.”

Toure’s future may decide on the fate of Mamadou Sakho, who is currently awaiting the verdict of an investigation after testing positive for banned drugs.

French international Sakho could face a ban of any time between six months and two years, which may incline Klopp to keep Toure at Anfield beyond his current deal.

The Reds have already boosted their defence for next season by completing the pre-contract signing of Schalke 04’s Joel Matip, but Klopp is expected to make further changes.

After seven years at the club, Martin Skrtel is expected to leave the club, whilst youngster Tiago Ilori could also be heading towards the exit door.
