Leipzig failed in swoop for Alexander-Arnold

Bundesliga side RB Leipzig failed in a January move for Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold.

According to The Times, the German outfit attempted to land the right-back as part of a deal to take Naby Keita to Liverpool ahead of schedule in January.

The report claims that Leipzig suggested they would allow Keita to join Liverpool six months early, if they were allowed to sign Alexander-Arnold.

Liverpool, however, refused to play ball and rejected the proposal, as they value the fullback too highly.

The teenager has burst onto the scene at Liverpool this season and is growing a reputation as one of the most promising right-backs in Europe.

He recently put in a superb performance in the Champions League as Liverpool beat Manchester City 3-0 at Anfield on Wednesday.

Alexander-Arnold has made 24 appearances in all competitions so far this season for Jurgen Klopp’s side, scoring three goals.

Naby Keita will officially sign for Liverpool on July 1st in a £57m deal from Leipzig.
