Leipzig turned down Man Utd approach for Liverpool target Werner

Bundesliga side RB Leipzig turned down Manchester United’s approach for striker Timo Werner, according to a report on Fussball Transfers.

The German international has been linked with a £60m move to Liverpool in recent days.

The report confirms that United approached Leipzig regarding a January transfer for Werner but had their advances rejected.

Speaking in 2018, Werner admitted that it is one of his dreams to play in the Premier League.

Werner is in prolific form for Leipzig at the moment. The 23-year-old has scored 20 times in 18 Bundesliga appearances this season.

Although he is one of the most in-form players in world football at the moment, we’re not too sure where he will fit in at Liverpool.

We feel that if any deal for Werner is to be done, then one of either Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah or Roberto Firmino will need to leave the club and we can’t see that happening any time soon because of their sparkling form.

However, although it’s encouraging to see Leipzig reject the advances of United, unfortunately, they may even do that same to Liverpool if the club makes a formal enquiry because, at the moment, they’re not willing to let him go.
