Lewtas impressed with Brewster – Exciting news for Liverpool fans

Liverpool’s Under-18s coach Barry Lewtas has praised striker Rhian Brewster following an impressive performance in the UEFA Youth League, as reported on the Liverpool Echo.

The Englishman found the back of the net as the youngsters ran out 4-2 winners over Salzburg.

Lewtas was especially pleased with Brewster’s work rate and said:

What’s great is he was trying really hard, and how good is that? He’s a player who isn’t with us very often.

He’s based at Melwood but still has the mentality to really want to do well for the team, to work hard, to run. That’s a real compliment to him.

Should these comments excite Liverpool fans?

Definitely. Brewster was given his first-team chance against MK Dons in the Carabao Cup recently but struggled to impress as the Reds progressed into the next round.

However, he is only recently back from a long-term injury and the majority of the time, it takes a player time to get back to full flow.

The fact that the 19-year-old is giving his all for the youth team shows that he is willing to put in the effort to get back to his best and push for a first-team place.

With Liverpool participating in multiple competitions this season, Brewster is likely to get another chance to feature for the senior side and he’ll be eager to ensure he’s fully ready to show what he can do.
