Lloyd Kelly would have been fantastic long-term signing for Liverpool, with big things expected from the 20-year-old.
Kelly was strongly tipped to join the Reds at one point during the summer, but he instead opted to move to Bournemouth.
The young left-back was given more assurances over regular playing time at Dean Court, making it a more logical next step in his career.
Speaking in a Liverpool Echo Q&A on Tuesday, Paul Gorst admitted Kelly was an individual that Jurgen Klopp was keen on signing:
Lloyd Kelly was seriously considered by Klopp and sporting director Michael Edwards, but Bournemouth’s £13m deal was enough to keep the Reds away from the negotiating table.
The idea was that Kelly would have room to improve at a steady rate as second fiddle behind undisputed left-back Andy Robertson.
Other than him, though, the Reds steered clear of any significant moves.

Kelly is one of the most promising English defenders of his generation, so there is no doubting that Liverpool missed out by not managing to sign him.
The youngster deserves credit for picking Bournemouth, though, with more minutes likely to ensure to keeps improving.
As Gorst alludes to, Kelly would have been a strong backup to Andy Robertson, filling in when required.
It could be an interesting signing to keep an eye on in the future, should Kelly continue to develop at this rapid rate.
Could a swap deal with Harry Wilson be on the cards further down the line?
