Liverpool are ‘home and dry’ in the title race, claims Redknapp

Harry Redknapp believes Liverpool are ‘home and dry’ in the Premier League title race this season.

The Reds sit 13 points clear of second-place Leicester City, also having a game in hand on the Foxes.

Perhaps more significant is their 14-point advantage over champions Manchester City, who are widely seen as the biggest threat to their hopes of glory.

Someone who believes the title race is done and dusted is Redknapp, who is full of praise for this Liverpool side.

While he believes Saturday’s trip to Tottenham will be difficult, he told Sky Sports News that Jurgen Klopp will get his side over the finish line:

I think Liverpool are home and dry. I can’t see any other result but Liverpool winning the title, but Tottenham away will be a tough game, make no mistake about that.

A lot of it comes from the manager. I’ve never met him but he’s a great character, he’s always bubbly and is a real plus for English football since he’s been here and especially Liverpool.

He’ll keep them going. When you listen to the players, people like (Jordan) Henderson saying it’s not over yet. He has been great, what a captain, what a leader.

Deep down, if they don’t win the title this year… I don’t know – for me it’s impossible they don’t win it. They are the best team and they’re well clear. It would be great, they thoroughly deserve it.

After so much pain in title races down the years, Liverpool supporters are being understandably cautious about celebrating too soon.

They are in a wonderful position, however, and if City held this advantage, the title would have been conceded already, certainly by myself.

If the Reds don’t end up winning the league now, it would be a crushing blow, but they look too focused and full of confidence to fall short from here.

The aim has to be not only clinching glory, but also going unbeaten and eclipsing City’s 100-point record from 2017/18.
