Juventus are also mentioned as strong candidates to sign the Lyon midfielder, who was linked with the Reds last month.
Aouar is keen on a summer exit, as the 21-year-old looks to kick on into the next stage of his career.
He has three goals and four assists in Ligue 1 this season, proving to be a key man for Lyon.

While City’s interest in Aouar comes as a potential blow to Liverpool, the Reds could actually have the advantage in the battle to sign him.
The youngster is a player with huge potential who could insist on playing in the Champions League next season.
With City potentially facing a two-year ban from European football, Liverpool could swoop in and guarantee Aouar a seat at the Champions League table.
There is also the obvious lure of playing under Jurgen Klopp, too, and while Pep Guardiola also has huge appeal, he tends to stay at clubs for less time than the Liverpool boss, as shown at Barcelona and Bayern Munich.
Aouar could, therefore, be in a situation where he only plays under Guardiola for a year before he leaves, whereas Klopp has committed his future at Anfield to 2024, at least.
