Liverpool dealt blow in attempt to sell Balotelli

Mario Balotelli’s nightmare return to AC Milan has gotten worse, as the striker has sustained another injury which will keep him out for three months, claim Gazzetta dello Sport.

The Italian joined his former club on a one-year loan deal in August after an unimpressive season at Liverpool, but he has only played three fixtures since going back to his home country.

The 25-year-old hasn’t featured since September, and it has been reported by the Italian outlet that he has suffered a hernia, and thus must go under the knife.

Neil Jones of the Liverpool Echo writes that Balotelli’s setback damages the Reds’ chances of ridding themselves of the forward.

He joined the club for £16m towards the end of last summer’s transfer window and managed a measly four goals in 28 outings.

Not only was Balotelli’s goalscoring record poor at Anfield, but his all-round behaviour left a lot to be desired.
