Liverpool defender Ki-Jana Hoever to join Wolves

Young Liverpool defender Ki-Jana Hoever is set to join Wolves for a fee rising from £10m, as per a report from Craig Hope of the Daily Mail.

The news has since been confirmed by numerous journalists and Liverpool reporter for The Athletic James Pearce has stated the fee for the 18-year-old will ‘be higher than £10m including add-ons’.

Many expected the Reds to begin letting some players leave the club as Jurgen Klopp looks to bring in his own additions.

Liverpool have announced the arrival of Thiago Alcantara imminently, with reports suggesting the Reds are interested in making Wolves forward Diogo Jota their next summer signing.

However, Klopp is expected to need to sell some of his fringe players in order to buy, starting with the departure of Hoever, on a permanent basis.

The young Dutch defender, who can play as either a right-back or centrally in defence, arrived at Anfield from Ajax for a reported compensation fee of £90,000 in 2018 and has made four appearances for the club, all in cup competitions.

Hoever’s debut actually came against his soon-to-be new club as a 16-year-old when he came on as a substitute in an FA Cup tie at Molineux in January 2019.

Many many have predicted a bright future at Liverpool for the Holland youth international, but with Trent Alexander-Arnold and Neco Williams both ahead in the pecking order, perhaps amove was the best for all parties.
