Liverpool establish contact with Ancelotti

Whether Brendan Rodgers will lose his job as Liverpool manager following a relatively poor start to the start of the season remains to be seen, but rumours about his potential departure are prevalent and there could be some action on that if form doesn’t improve.

And it would appear that the Reds are already preparing for the eventuality which sees the Northern Irishman departing Anfield after three years in charge of the team, with CalcioMercatoWeb reporting that the Fenway Sports Group have now established contact with Carlo Ancelotti as a potential successor to Rodgers in the Reds’ dugout.

Ancelotti left his last role as manager of Real Madrid at the end of last season following a failure to win either La Liga or the Champions League, although he did pick up the UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup, following La Decima and the Copa Del Rey in the previous campaign.

That was deemed to be insufficient by Florentino Perez, who pulled the trigger and replaced Ancelotti with former Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez.

Now, Liverpool have reportedly moved to bring Ancelotti in should they remove Brendan Rodgers from his post.

CMW say the Reds are open to the possibility of a change of management, following just two wins in their opening six Premier League games of the season.

Ancelotti last managed in the Premier League with Chelsea from 2009 to 2011, winning a Premier League title in his first campaign before being sacked at the end of the second for failing to repeat the feat.
