Liverpool eye January move for Max Clark

Liverpool could make a move for Max Clark in the January transfer window, according to Football Insider.

The Vitesse Arnhem defender has impressed this season, having moved to the Eredivisie club from Hull City last year.

The report states that Liverpool are keen on signing a new left-back and Clark “is emerging as their top target.”

Jurgen Klopp sees the importance of bringing in a deputy to Andy Robertson, with the Scot already playing a huge amount of football this season.

Incidentally, Clark and Robertson were teammates during their Hull days, which may be an added bonus, in terms of team spirit.

So far this season, Klopp’s decision not to sign another left-back has paid off, but it still represents a risk.

Bringing in a backup next month makes perfect sense, allowing Robertson some much-needed rest at times.

An injury to him would suddenly leave Liverpool looking horribly short in that area, so Clark would be a shrewd addition.

It remains to be seen how trustworthy the story is, though.
