Liverpool are eyeing up a €95 million double swoop for Borussia Monchengladbach pair Denis Zakaria and Marcus Thuram.
That’s according to Express Sport in Germany, who claim that the Reds see the duo as potential summer reinforcements.
Zakaria, who is valued at €45m, has been linked with Liverpool in the past, having caught the eye in Gladbach’s midfield.
Meanwhile, Thuram has six goals to his name in the Bundesliga this season, impressing in his side’s attack. The report claims that it could cost as much as €50m to sign the Frenchman.

While the pair could both be strong additions to Liverpool’s squad, paying around €95 million combined feels steep, especially considering Jurgen Klopp’s preference for not overpaying on players.
Zakaria has big potential in a deep-lying midfield role, but the 23-year-old could struggle to be a key man for a while, given the depth at Klopp’s disposal in the middle of the park.
For that reason, paying as much as €45 million for his services feels uncalled for right now, with the likes of Fabinho, Jordan Henderson and Gini Wijnaldum all key men, and Naby Keita, James Milner and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain also earning regular playing time.
Thuram could actually be the more shrewd signing of the two, bringing much-needed depth to Liverpool’s attack, but also potentially being happy to play second fiddle to Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino.
The 22-year-old can play out on the left-hand side or centrally – something the likes of Divock Origi and Xherdan Shaqiri cannot do consistently – and he would represent a long-term signing who could outlast the current front-three.
Should Timo Werner come in, however, I think that might lessen the need for Thuram, with the youngster then facing the prospect of having four world-class players ahead of him in the pecking order.
