Liverpool are set to move for Salzburg attacking midfielder Takumi Minamino in January, according to the Times‘ Paul Joyce.
The 24-year-old has a release clause of just £7.25 million, with the Reds keen to trigger it next month.
Minamino was superb against Liverpool at Anfield earlier in the season, producing one of the best performances by an opposition player there in years.
That may have caught Jurgen Klopp’s eye and a move for the Japan international now looks likely, with the German believed to be “thrilled” by what he saw.

Minamino looks a tailor-made Klopp player, possessing great technical ability, creativity and a strong work ethic.
He was a nightmare to play against in both of the Reds’ Champions League matches against Salzburg, enhancing his reputation greatly.
This would be such an astute signing if Liverpool got it done, especially considering how cheap he would be.
