Some Liverpool supporters are desperate to see Gini Wijnaldum sign a new contract at Anfield.
The Dutchman again outlined his importance to the Reds on Wednesday night, scoring the opener in his side’s 3-2 defeat to Atletico Madrid.
Wijnaldum has been a fantastic signing for Liverpool, having joined the club from Newcastle United in the summer of 2016.
His understated style has been influential in the middle of the park, combining physical strength, natural talent and a big-game mentality.
There is concern that Wijnaldum is yet to sign a new deal with Liverpool, with his current contract expiring in the summer of 2021.
The 29-year-old has been coy about his future, refusing to commit to the Reds just yet.
The Athletic’s James Pearce is one of those who is keen to see Wijnaldum stay on, saying it should be a priority for Liverpool this summer.
These Reds fans agree, taking to Twitter to talk up the idea of the midfielder extending his stay on Merseyside.
