Ole Gunnar Solskjaer labelled Liverpool as long-ball merchants on Sunday, after his Manchester United side lost 2-0 at Anfield.
Speaking in his post-match interview, the Norwegian was clearly stinging about the result.
Solskjaer’s decision to play a high line played into Liverpool’s hands at times, with Harry Maguire struggling to justify his status as the world’s most expensive centre-back.
One brilliant tweet compared the England defender with WWE wrestler The Big Show:
Plays a highline with the Big Show in his back four and then complains that people use pace in behind them. https://t.co/DosJod1yY7

These Liverpool supporters loved the comparison, mocking Solskjaer’s comments in the process.
The Big Show 😭

Harsh on The Big Show. Far superior athlete. Better turning circle
Solskjaer though, like a fan who won a competition to manage his team. As long as he comes out with zingers like this the fans will probably lap it up, and he’ll continue to drive that bus off a cliff. Good times

Or do Liverpool utilize their range of passing and pace upfront to exploit opponents weaknesses?

Tactical genius. Keep him in post until 2022 and back him in the market.

He's petty and lacks class , his comments were an attempted job saving exercise

Doesn’t matter if it’s long ball or short ball , it’s all about the right ball.

Read Liverpool Verdict
There is a huge difference between being a team who simply punt the ball and hope for the best, and one who have a specific plan with long passes.
Liverpool are doing the latter at the moment, in my opinion, utilising the pace of Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane, in particular, and making the pitch big.
The Reds mix it up, though, with numerous flowing moves starting from the back and Alisson keeping it short.
Solskjaer’s comments are embarrassing, quite frankly, and I want him to stay on as United manager for as long as possible.
I believe he is completely out of his depth and there are definite echoes of Roy Hodgson’s spell at Liverpool about this current period at United.
His post-match interview also lacked class, with the former striker clearly trying to deflect attention away from his own team’s shortcomings.
