Liverpool fans are stunned at Salah and Mane’s exclusion from World XI

Liverpool had a productive night at the Best FIFA Football Awards on Monday, with Jurgen Klopp and Alisson both scooping prizes.

Meanwhile, Virgil van Dijk missed out to Lionel Messi in the main award of the night, the Best Men’s Player.

During the ceremony, the current world XI was also announced, with some baffling inclusions.

While Alisson and Van Dijk made the cut, there was no sign of Mohamed Salah or Sadio Mane, both of whom enjoyed an exceptional last 12 months.

These Liverpool supporters reacted to the team on Twitter, struggling to comprehend their respective exclusions.

It is bizarre that neither Salah or Mane made the cut, following their Champions League triumph.

Quite how any Real Madrid players were included makes no sense, while a number of Manchester City individuals can also feel hard done by, most notably Bernardo Silva.

These XIs are so often made up of the biggest names rather than the best players, which makes the whole exercise pointless.

Messi voted for Mane as his best player of the year – frankly, if the greatest footballer of all time thinks that, it sums up how ridiculous his omission was.
