Takumi Minamino will be free to play for Liverpool in the Champions League if and when he joins the club, despite already playing for Red Bull Salzburg this season.
Historically, players who are on the move in January would usually be cup-tied for their new teams. However, following a change in the competition’s rules last season, Minamino could feature in Europe for the Reds during the second half of the campaign.
The player is expected to be officially confirmed as a Liverpool player in the near future and these fans on social media were delighted to learn that he can still play in Europe.

When you consider that Liverpool will reportedly pay less than £10 million for Minamino, his availability in the Champions League just highlights how much of a bargain the deal really is.
He’ll arrive in England with Champions League experience under his belt and this should go some way to helping him adapt and hit the ground running in a Liverpool shirt.
His imminent arrival has plenty of fans excited and it looks like he could have quite the role to play this season.
