Liverpool fans hail ‘genius’ Edwards after latest piece of transfer magic

Some Liverpool supporters have hailed Michael Edwards as a ‘genius’, after news of his latest piece of transfer magic emerged.

Edwards has done a fantastic job at Anfield since arriving in 2011, thriving in the role of sporting director.

He has been credited with being the man behind the signings of players such as Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane, as well as building a strong relationship with Jurgen Klopp in the process.

While little is heard about Edwards in the media, his influence at the club certainly doesn’t go unnoticed.

The Liverpool Echo have reported that he has played another transfer masterstroke, with Liverpool potentially about to benefit from the sale of Luis Alberto from Lazio.

When the Spaniard was sold to the Serie A giants back in 2016, Edwards ensured that a 30 per cent sell-on clause was included in the deal, meaning the Reds could earn a hefty sum of money when he moves on.

Alberto has shone in Italy and Lazio could demand as much as £69 million for his services this summer. The club are also looking at nailing him down to a new deal with a release clause of £87 million.

These Liverpool fans have been responding to Edwards’ brilliance on Twitter, hailing the job he is doing.
