Jurgen Klopp and his Liverpool players are off enjoying their winter break, recharging the batteries ahead of the business end of the season.
None were involved in the Reds’ 1-0 win over Shrewsbury Town on Tuesday evening, at a sold-out Anfield.
Liverpool’s youngest-ever starting lineup got the better of the League One side in their FA Cup fourth-round replay, thanks to Ro-Shaun Williams’ second-half own goal.
One senior figure who was present at Anfield was James Milner, with the 34-year-old watching on from the sidelines.
After the match, stand-in manager Neil Critchley revealed that the veteran midfielder had been influential in getting the young players prepared for the game, speaking to them in the dressing room beforehand.
It is another moment that sums up the incredible professionalism and selflessness of Milner, in a career that has spanned almost 20 years, since making his debut for Leeds United at the age of just 16.
These Liverpool took to Twitter to shower the injured star with praise.

People say he’s one of our best free transfers. No, he’s just one of our best transfers. The ultimate professional. #Milner

Such an invaluable player to be there, not play but somehow still be a leader
