The fact that Harry Maguire is the most expensive centre-back in history continues to beggar belief.
The Manchester United defender produced a shaky performance for England on Tuesday night, giving away a penalty in England’s 5-3 win over Kosovo.
It was the latest showing to suggest that he isn’t worth close to his £80 million price tag, following a less-than-perfect start to life at United, too.
Maguire’s display did not go unnoticed among these Liverpool supporters, and other fans, who mocked amid ongoing comparisons with Virgil van Dijk.
Ladies and gentlemen, this is Harry Maguire. The most expensive defender ever. #ENGKOS https://t.co/4chX6ZhtAa

Put simply. Harry Maguire cannot be considered on or near the level of Virgil Van Dijk

Read Liverpool Verdict
Maguire is a perfectly decent centre-back – somehow who shone at Leicester City and will be go on to be a good signing for United.
He is also vastly overrated, however, with some ludicrously rating him among the best centre-backs in Europe.
The United man is not even close to that level, with too many errors produced during games, whether big or small.
His eye-watering £80 million move to Old Trafford sums up Liverpool’s rivals’ transfer approach since Alex Ferguson left in 2013, spending far too much on players worth half the amount.
Maguire would be a good partner for someone like Van Dijk, but is well short of being good enough to lead a defence for a top club.
