Jurgen Klopp has been at the centre of controversy in the last couple of days – something that is rare for the Liverpool manager.
This would never have happened if the Reds hadn’t blown a 2-0 lead away to Shrewsbury on Sunday evening, though.
Klopp’s men ended up drawing 2-2 at New Meadow in the FA Cup fourth round, leading to the 52-year-old’s moment of controversy after the game.
The German confirmed that both he and his senior squad will not take part in the replay on February 4th, in order to stick to their winter break plans.
Opinion has been divided on the matter since then, with some siding with Klopp and others accusing him of being disrespectful to the FA Cup.
Someone who has provided his opinion is Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher.
The former centre-back took to Twitter to say that he believes Klopp should take charge of the game:
Senior players having a winter break is right, you can’t implement one & then have a replay in the break. That’s the same for all PL clubs. But Klopp should take the team, his young players will be delighted & the picture of him in Ibiza with a 🍺 will be on every front page! https://t.co/l1h92byye2

These Liverpool supporters provided their reaction to Carragher’s post, with plenty disagreeing.
When he holding Premier League trophy above his head come May, no one will care about FA Cup or any of this argument! Unnecessary distraction that media are loving!

I disagree Jamie, I feel Klopp puts alot of energy into the team. We as fans age with stress watching games so imagine Klopp. I believe the amount of time and energy hes put into the team, deserves a little break too.

I think it’s a good stance by Klopp, he and the coaching staff need a break as much as the players, some had an extremely long summer so a week off is good for all parties. I’d like ya to try win the cup but have no complaints with the decision taken.
