Some Liverpool supporters have been showing their love for Divock Origi, following a touching interview with the Belgian about racism in his life.
Origi has enjoyed an up-and-down Reds career constantly in and out of the lineup, but it is impossible to downplay the impact he has made. He is now arguably a club legend, especially following his goal against Barcelona in 2019.
While the 25-year-old may be a frustrating player to watch at times, he has chipped in with some of the most iconic moments in recent Liverpool history.
Origi famously scored a last-gasp winner against Everton back in 2018/19, heading home in front of the Kop in the 96th minute, as well as also netting a vital late goal at Newcastle during the title battle with Manchester City in the same season.
Most memorably, however, the Belgium international fire home twice in the unforgettable Champions League win over Barcelona, before scoring the trophy-clinching strike in the final victory against Tottenham.
Origi is not only a good footballer but also a great person, and he has contributed to the Premier League’s No Room For Racism campaign, discussing his only experiences of racism growing up.
The striker admits he was brought to tears at the age of 12 because of such abuse, also discussing the importance of other cultures coming together.
"Unity is how we should move forward."
