Liverpool fixture alert: Two crucial April changes confirmed as first Hill Dickinson derby date set

Arne Slot and his Liverpool side have discovered their fate for April as the Premier League confirms two significant fixture shifts for the Reds.

The business end of the season is fast approaching, and for Liverpool, the calendar just got a lot more interesting. The Premier League has officially confirmed its broadcast selections for April, resulting in two of the Reds’ top-flight clashes being moved for live TV coverage including a historic trip across the city.

Now, his bruised outfit is in real danger of not even finishing inside the top-four positions in the ultra-competitive division, with a sorry ninth league defeat coming their way on Tuesday night, when coming unstuck in the 94th minute at bottom-of-the-table Wolverhampton Wanderers.

There are some huge games ahead for Liverpool if they want to sneak into the top-four party, with April and May standing out as two crucial months.

Liverpool’s daunting May fixture schedule

Slot and Co. also have March to manoeuvre before getting stuck into the nitty-gritty final few months of the gruelling season, with Tottenham Hotspur and Brighton and Hove Albion back-to-back in the Premier League.

However, it’s the triple header coming their way in May which will generate the most unease, as the Champions League-chasing Reds have to play Aston Villa, Manchester United, and Chelsea one after the other, before closing the campaign against Brentford.

The script couldn’t have generated a more dramatic run-in of games if it tried, with Villa, the Red Devils, Chelsea and Slot’s men all jam-packed together in the race for Champions League action.

April’s set of Premier League games has also come under the microscope as of late, as Liverpool has had to deal with some last-minute changes to their sprawling list of matches.

April’s changed fixtures for Liverpool

Indeed, there have been some major tweaks to Liverpool’s games against Fulham and Everton, when the calendar hits April.

The Reds’ home clash with the Cottagers, which will see former Liverpool attacker Harry Wilson return to Anfield trying to spoil the top-four party, is now set for a 5:30 kick-off on Saturday, April 11, after originally being billed for a 3pm start-time.

Moreover, the Merseyside Derby – that was at first meant to kick off on Saturday April 18 at 3pm – has been unsurprisingly pushed forward to Sunday April 19 at a 2pm start-time, as both games now make up Sky Sports’ coverage.

The Derby at the Hill Dickinson Stadium could well prove to be a tetchy affair for Slot’s men, as Everton harbour European aspirations of their own, as they eye up a spot that sees them clinch either Europa Conference League football, or the more star-studded Europa League.

For Liverpool, though, the main prize is the Champions League. However, the fixture schedule is looking tough, if they want to stake a claim for a spot in the illustrious competition.
