Liverpool have joined the race to sign Anderlecht defender Kara Mbodji in January.
According to an exclusive by Turkish Football, Premier League sides Liverpool and Brighton have entered the fray in the pursuit of Mbodji.
The report claims that his agent has been in contact with several teams across Europe, with other Premier League sides also having been linked.
Liverpool are in the market for a new central defender, after they failed to sign Virgil Van Dijk from Southampton in the summer transfer window.
Their pursuit of Van Dijk left to an apology being issued by the club after allegations of ‘tapping up’ and reports of Jurgen Klopp speaking to the player without permission.
Mbodji could now offer Liverpool an alternative target, with the report claiming that he is rated at €10m, which is also cheaper than Van Dijk.
The Dutch defender was valued at £60m by Southampton during Liverpool’s reported interest.
