Liverpool are “keen” on signing Real Sociedad centre-back Diego Llorente, according to Cadena Ser.
The 25-year-old defender has caught the eye with a string of impressive performances in La Liga this season and the Reds sent scouts to watch him before the international break.
A January exit looks on the cards for Llorente, with Rafa Benitez’s Newcastle United side one of those strongly linked with him.
The Magpies are believed to face stiff competition from Liverpool, however, with Tottenham also in the hunt for him.
Llorente has a £28million release clause in his contract, which seems relatively cheap by modern standards.

The main question mark surrounding any possible Liverpool move for Llorente would be whether he is needed at Anfield.
Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez are forming a world-class partnership at the back, with both in magnificent form this season, as the Reds have conceded just five Premier League goals in 12 matches.
Dejan Lovren remains a solid option and Joel Matip is also an international with plenty of pedigree.
The situation is likely to become clearer in January.
