Liverpool are interested in signing Mathieu Goncalves as backup to Andy Robertson, according to L’Equipe, via Sport Witness.
The Reds are lacking depth at full-back currently, with James Milner occasionally drafted in there and Yasser Larouci still unproven at the top level.
Should Robertson pick up a long-term injury, it would be an area of the pitch where Liverpool look light.
Goncalves is now seen as a left-back target, with the 18-year-old catching their eye for Toulouse this season.
Juventus are expected to provide competition for the Frenchman, though, and they are described as being ‘a step ahead’ of Liverpool.

Goncalves remains unproven, in many ways, but he is an exciting prospect with a bright future ahead of him.
Jurgen Klopp’s ability to nurture young talent means Anfield would be the perfect next destination for him.
The hope is that he will mature into a top player over time, pushing Robertson hard for a regular starting berth, should Liverpool sign him.
