Liverpool made £12m extra revenue from new stand

Liverpool’s new Main Stand at Anfield netted the club an extra £12 million in revenue, according to the Telegraph.

Club accounts for last season revealed that the club increased matchday revenue to £74 million, surpassing the previous seasons total of £62 million and £43 million from 2010 when Fenway Sports Group purchased the club.

Although this is a big increase, Liverpool still trail their Premier League rivals in matchday revenue. United earned £107 million and Arsenal £100 million from matchday revenue in their last published accounts.

The lack of European football at Anfield last season also means that this season’s total is expected to rise. They are guaranteed a minimum of five Champions League games, with a possible sixth if Liverpool can hold their first leg advantage over Porto.

Liverpool now must decide whether or not to expand the Anfield Road stand. The expansion would take the overall capacity of the ground to around 60,000, bringing in even more revenue for the club.
