Liverpool make Muslera approach

Liverpool are looking to solve their goalkeeping woes by making a move for Galatasaray stopper Fernando Muslera, according to reports in Turkey.

As per Kralspor, the Reds have contacted the Super Lig champions to discuss a potential £15m deal for the 29-year-old, but Galatasaray president Dursun Ozbek is intent on retaining the services of the Uruguayan.

Simon Mignolet has endured a below-par season on Merseyside and his deputy Adam Bogdan has failed to apply sufficient pressure on the Belgian for a starting berth.

Liverpool signed Mignolet in the summer of 2013 and although he was part of a title challenge, mistakes at crucial times in big games cost the Reds dearly.

Ex-Reds boss Brendan Rodgers dropped the former Sunderland ‘keeper a year ago, but when his replacement Brad Jones suffered an injury on Boxing Day at Burnley, Mignolet returned to the fold.

Rather than looking to sign a new number one last summer, Liverpool recruited Bogdan to take the place of second-choice Jones, whose contract expired.

But with both Mignolet and Bogdan struggling, manager Jurgen Klopp may look to improve what has been a problem position for the Reds for some time.
