Liverpool not expected to make Coutinho offer – are they making a mistake?

Liverpool not bringing back Philippe Coutinho is a decision that makes sense, despite the Brazilian’s brilliance.

According to the Telegraph, the Reds are not eyeing up a return for the 27-year-old, although the likes of Tottenham and Manchester United are considering a loan move.

Coutinho is allowed to leave Barcelona on a temporary basis and a switch to the Premier League is believed to appeal to him.

There has been an outcry from many Liverpool supporters for Coutinho to come back to Anfield, having exited in January 2018.

A lack of summer transfer business has caused some frustration and bringing in such a talent makes sense in many ways.

Despite this, Liverpool’s decision not to arrange a Coutinho reunion is wholly understandable.

Jurgen Klopp cut his ties with the forward last year, and even when he was flourishing under the German, there were still some suggestions that he was not a typical ‘Klopp player’.

Although outrageously gifted, it may be that Klopp doesn’t rate the tactical side of Coutinho’s game as highly as others, proving to be the reason behind not signing.

That and the fact that a £21 million loan deal for one season is a ludicrous amount of money.
