Liverpool’s young team continued the trend of not letting Everton win a game at Anfield for two decades by beating them 1-0 in the FA Cup fourth round.
Curtis Jones scored the only goal of the game, quality of which was of high order and fitting to win any game of football, let alone a tight Merseyside derby.
Everton began the game well by creating three very good chances in the first 25 minutes, but they were guilty of not taking them. Liverpool keeper Adrian made a couple of good stops amongst them as well.
The Reds started the second half well and looked more likely to score. Then, 20 minutes from time, Jones took the ball at the edge of the ball before curling his shot into the top corner, leaving Jordan Pickford with no chance. A stunning goal from a player who looked matured on the pitch.
Everton never really looked like responding after that and Liverpool’s academy team deserved this win.
