The 2019/20 campaign ended in the ultimate glory for Liverpool Football Club as they banished a 30-year wait for top-flight success by winning the Premier League title with a record seven matches remaining.
In truth, the league as a contest was over some time before it was mathematically assured, although no Liverpool fan dared admit it. Given the capitulations that have gone before, most Reds’ supporters were wisely pessimistic when it came to prematurely celebrating domestic glory.
This time, however, there would be no slip-ups, literally or metaphorically, as the precession to the Premier League title, lead by Jurgen Klopp went full steam ahead and culminated on a Thursday night in South West London.
Watching on from a Formby hotel, the Liverpool squad celebrated their title success, which was confirmed by a favour from Chelsea, of all clubs.
Despite not confirming matters on the field, this was Liverpool’s crown, and it was hard-earned and truly deserved. The Reds were comfortably the best team in the country from the outset and deservedly lifted the prestigious trophy to add to the other three this squad has collected along its trophy-laden way.
I’ve taken a look at the squad members who made it happen, the men who helped Klopp turn doubters into believers once more.
I’ve ranked them individually out of 10 based on their performances in this iconic season.
